The Italian Palette
This series of hand-painted ceramic plates reinterprets the spirited essence of the Pop Art movement through a distinctly Italian culinary lens. By utilising bold, saturated pigments alongside high-contrast geometric patterns, such as the iconic checkered tablecloth, we have transformed everyday pantry staples into vibrant graphic subjects. Each plate serves as a modern celebration of the extraordinary in the ordinary, replacing traditional still life conventions with an energetic visual language that resonates with a contemporary dining audience.
Designed as a bespoke and budget-conscious installation for a restaurant interior, this project exemplifies the intersection of artistic legacy and functional necessity. These 12 unique pieces are curated to form a modular wall installation that serves as a dynamic focal point to define the character of the space. It is an intentional bridge between concept and utility, proving that sophisticated custom art can be both accessible and deeply rooted in a client’s specific vision.
